give me scarves!

Haven't posted in a few days (busy being a fashion publicist in training!)...but as the weather keeps getting colder, I find myself throwing on scarves every single day! And in this business, your outfit could be more important than your resume so accessorizing is extremely important! Bold colors spice up an outfit, vintage ones add a boho feel to any outfit and of course soft ones make you feel like you are wearing pajamas...even if you're not! Regardless of the store, I always find myself picking up accessories, especially scarves! My newest obsession is http://www.shopthelook.net/!!!!
To view the amazingly priced (AND adorable) scarves or to buy click here:

GO VOTE!
Today we are taking a BIG timeout from the fashion blog to encourage everyone to go out and make an educated vote. While it's extremely important for everyone to vote, it's MORE important for everyone to make an educated vote. Stop listening to your friends, news anchors, P.Diddy and other celebrities, learn the facts from the candidates themselves before voting. The campaigns have been twisted time and time again so make sure you know the facts before you vote. P.Diddy already gets his vote (although we all know last time he didn't even vote...) so vote for yourself!!!!!!!! Monday, November 3, 2008
Black & Blue
Back in the 90's it was definitely WRONG to mix blues and blacks...but here in 2008, that happens to be my favorite color combination. While it's still hard for some people to get right, others flaunt the two colors together every chance they get. Wearing a navy dress with black tights and black pumps, or black jeans with a dark blue shirt are staples in my wardrobe. Leave it to Marc Jacobs to create this wearable cardigan...perfect for the cold weather months we have ahead of us! This Marc by Marc Jacobs Danica cardigan retails for $298.00 at Bergdorf Goodman. why I love bluefly.com
I go on the Bluefly.com website at least once a day to browse. No other site hits the must-haves of the season like they do. Yet it's not all overly trendy and they carry key fall/winter pieces. The amazing folks at Bluefly.com are giving their customers an extra 10% off today because of HALLOWEEN! So not only are they stylish but they are giving...aka they are perfect. I'm debating this purple sweater dress that would like great with black tights and boots! This Design History Plum cable merino wool sweater is $120.00 and you can wear it through spring! Mix up the accessories and you will have it for years. To buy & to browse more amazing clothes at the best website ever...visit: http://tinyurl.com/DHplumdress
maybe I will trick or treat for clothes this year.......
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Leaf cuff!

I've always loved Kenneth Jay Lane jewelry. It's so ecletic and affordable...what's not to love? I saw someone with a similar leaf cuff on yesterday and became obsessed with finding one! The gold leaves reflected the light and it dressed up the black skirt suit it was being worn with. 18k gold, it's made in NYC (!!!!!) and it's only $88 at www.Shopbop.com .
To view more photos and to buy click here: http://tinyurl.com/kjlcuff
And while it did snow in some areas around NYC yesterday (thankfully not here!)...with this bracelet you can still enjoy fall for a few more weeks!

tory burch flats - past or present?
As my style icon Blair Waldorf so famously said, "Are those last season's Tory Burch flats?", you have to wonder...is that even possible? I'm a firm believer that this are classicly chic (like a Louis Vuitton bag) and never go out of style. I think wearing something after the trend has passed makes you even more trendy. Finding key pieces, like these flats, will give you that Audrey Hepburn classy look that never goes out of style. Would you be caught wearing "last seasons" shoes? Or "last seasons" it bag? I think wearing "last seasons" styles is better than getting stuck on probation by the fashion police! Visit http://www.shopbop.com/ to view or browse http://www.toryburch.com/ to view more styles and classic looks from the designer!
Happy Tuesday!
perfect fall dress

I am slightly obsessed with the simplicity of this Geren Ford silk tee dress that I found on Shopbop.com! It's so chic and you can use any accessories that you already own. I would pair it with black pumps, a green or teal clutch and tons of bangles! To view more photos or to buy: http://tinyurl.com/silkdressgf .

make up to go

The 3 things I can never leave home without are mascara, lip gloss and perfume and while it's great that companies are realizing the need for travel size cosmetics, you don't need to be jet-setting off to a beach vacation to get your use out of them! While recently in Sephora, I stocked my purse up with various travel sized makeup because like most of you, my life is ON THE GO! Rarely time to even grab a cup of coffee or even take a five minute breather, this make up on the go is an instant refresher that definitely gives a little extra boost to get through the day.
My favorites are the BADgal mini mascara which is as big as a tube of chapstick yet has the same great mascara! (Benefit, $9, Sephora.com)
Too Faced Glamour to Go is a pocket sized pallate for eyes and lips! With plenty of color choices, regardless of what color you need, it's there! (Too Faced, $18.50, Sephora.com)
With mascara and lip gloss now in my purse, I wanted to find a solid scent that I could throw in with them. I wanted to make sure the solid perfume went on easily and smelled the same as the regular perfume. Leave it to Marc Jacobs to make an adorable "necklace" with his classic Daisy scent. While I wouldn't wear it as a necklace, I tied the string around a zipper on the inside of my bag so I could easily reach in and find it whenever I found myself in need of a little sniff of heaven!
All of these amazing items were found at the best place to buy beauty products...
http://www.sephora.com/ ! Some of them (the MJ perfume & the BADgal mascara) are Sephora exclusives so don't waste your time at other beauty sites...go to the best! Happy Shopping!

This picture is from the October issue of InStyle and the line is to be sold at......where else but Kitson! Really in my eyes, she can do no wrong! all jean skirts should be burned...

To all my faithful blog viewers...whether you are following or just stopping by...
Here is my thesis on WHY JEAN SKIRTS SHOULD BE BANISHED FOREVERRRRR...
Jean skirts annoy me for 2 reasons...
Reason #1) IT'S LATE OCTOBER. unless you live in Cali (see note 1) BURN ALL OF YOUR MINI DENIM SKIRTS. It's getting colder out. Stop wearing them with Uggs (2) or leggings (3) and put on normal clothes.
Reason #2) If you are older than the age of 18, then by law you must get rid of the denim minis. Perhaps I'll even be nice and say freshmen year of college. Denim minis are all the rage as soon as it's nice, they seem to be getting shorter and shorter (4) and frankly if that's the best you can do then you need to go to a stylist ASAP. The day you graduate high school your fashion sense needs to mature with the rest of your life (5) but the bottom line is jean skirts are trashy. Think about it long and hard and even you will agree. Do you everrrrr see celebrities wearing them? Besides ones under 18? NO. Because they are ugly. Wearing a jean skirt, tank and flip flops out to bars at night should be illegal. I'm so sick of it. That's definitely not cute. It's my mission in life to get rid of the awful denim mini's. I threw all of mine out & haven't looked back since! (6)
The ONLY TWO exceptions are as follows...and read closely...
Exception #1) If you happen to find or already own a denim knee length pencil skirt, that is a huge exception to the no denim skirt rule. They look classic and the pencil skirt looks great on almost anyone. If you're going through denim skirt withdrawal...go buy a pencil skirt and it will all be OK!
Exception #2) If you are on a tropical beach (7) I might not have a huge problem. I do agree it's an easy cover up and is casual and easy to throw in your beach bag. But please do not wear you skirt and bikini top around the beach because that just proves the point that it's trashy. Buy a sarong or a terry tube dress.
So please please please please...go through your closet and throw out, donate or give away your denim skirts! It's a cleansing process that will really open your eyes to the real world of stylistas!
xx, LO
(ps-this is only my (8) opinion...clearly I'm exaggerating a lot of the points...so believe it if you want and if not...then let's hope we don't meet on the streets! JK I really wouldn't ever yell at someone or judge them without knowing them...but there is just something about jean skirts that completely rubs me the wrong way!)
notes:
(1) I still think this rule applies to those living in warmer climates but I would be more understanding & willing to discuss if that was the case...
(2) I have nothing against Uggs. I own 4 pairs. I think they are ugly too. But they are extremely warm and comfortable. Just don't wear them with a mini skirt. That's why Uggs get a bad rep.
(3) Nothing against leggings either. I'm actually wearing a pair now. But leggings and denim skirts never went together and never will.
(4) I have nothing against short clothing. It's just short denim that makes me want to walk up to complete strangers and tell them to change. Short skirts, short shorts, short dresses...say no to denim mini skirts from Abercrombie...
(5) Freshmen year of college is a big gray area...since all freshmen girls are competing to win the attention of cute college guys...but after freshmen year when you learn that 98% of them are lamer than your jean skirt...the rule applies to you again.
(6) Don't worry...I am extremely guilty of my own theory. I wore denim minis until my senior year of college and through the following summer. I am so ashamed. Good thing I realized this when I did so now I can help other people. I'm really just here to help!
(7) Or I guess a beach in general. I tend to buy cover-ups or even athletic shorts and t-shirts because I would never stoop so low to wear a denim skirt anymore but the choice is yours.
(8) And thousands upon thousands of other people's (opinion)

who is my favorite designer?

Surprise Surprise...my all time favorite designer...well designers...are PROENZA SCHOULER!!! This silk twill origami dress is $3,695.00 at www.SaksFifthAvenue.com . While I wish I could afford every thing these two touch...well unless this economy picks up it won't be happening soon. So if you're lucky to afford this luxurious dress, buy it here: http://tinyurl.com/PSdress
What I love most about Proenza Schouler is that they aren't afraid to be creative. They are sporty, mod and classic...they do menswear at it's best! My heart skips a beat everytime I see a celebrity wearing one of their designs on the red carpet or when it's featured in a Vogue fashion shoot. Long live the darling designs of Proenza Schouler!!! xx
boyfriend sweaters

If there is ONE thing I absolutely cannot get enough of for the fall it's cardigans. Take one look in my closet & I have at least 45 black cardigans. I love the menswear look of this one & find myself picturing it being worn with black skinny jeans...perhaps I'll have to go shopping this weekend. Found online at http://www.forever21.com/ for $22.80! To buy visit: http://tinyurl.com/sweaterF21
I love crisp fall weather for the sole reason to wear sweaters. Call me obsessed...I LOVE FALL!
you can't have enough boots!

The perfect fall boot! Jessica Biel loves her Loeffler Randall's which is cause enough for me to know I'd love them too! This rich brown Ivy Wedge boot is available at Neiman Marcus. To buy, view, or drool over, visit: http://tinyurl.com/bootLR .
Ahh the leather looks so soft! Does anyone own a pair of Loeffler Randall boots?
Olsen Twins do their thing

After watching MK & A. Olsen on Oprah yesterday...I became re-obsessed w/ their sense of fashion. This is from their Elizabeth & James line which was found on http://www.shopbop.com/. The zipper tee is definitely a new trend to follow (& I think I saw something similar at Target...) but the simplicity of pairing it with a black skirt is genius!

cheap chic trench coat

While we all know we could find a few things wrong with this picture (the pants & boots combo? yikes!) this trench is a MUST HAVE for fall! You can find it at your local Target or at http://www.target.com/ ! I bought it in gray & have received numerous compliments! It comes in other colors too, like a darker gray check, a moss color, black, navy, etc. They came out a little while ago so you might need to get them while you can but at the steal price of $39.99, you can definitely add this trench coat to your closet! Now I'm looking to find a military inspired coat & I'll be ready for the cold!
Chanel shoes!

HEAVEN ON EARTH! Chanel shoes now at http://www.bluefly.com/! This red patent trim canvas platform Chanel sandal goes for a mere $580.00 @ one of the best shopping sites ever...

the love of my life

I know the Fendi Spy Bag craze was HUGE back in 2005. It seemed every celebrity and every fashionable girl had at least one, most of the time in a few colors. I always wanted one in black. Still even today in 2008, I find myself almost drooling at the sight of one. The "It bag" craze came and went yet they are still being worn all over the place. Why? Because it's now iconic. Right up there with a Louis Vuitton Speedy bag and the Chanel quilted bags. You see the bag & you think...Fendi...expensive...leather...amazing...etc. The braided handles, the flap that also opens up, the intricate detail and of course the FF monogrammed inside! While the rich dark greens and browns were beautiful colors...I still always wanted one in black. Until one day I was on http://www.net-a-porter.com/ and saw one in purple. MY SIGNATURE COLOR!
It's dark enough for fall & fabulous enough for any true fashionista! This image is from http://www.net-a-porter.com/ and you can purchase this Fendi spy bag at their wonderful site! It's retail price on the day I saw it is $2,250, well worth it for a one of a kind bag that can last for generations!
welcome to my blog
Welcome to my first blog! Woohoo! Since I am sick of being a buyer & currently searching for a new job in Social Media/PR/Fashion, I figured a blog would be a productive addition to my portfolio. And who doesn't love fashion or shopping? I find my world completely pauses the second I get a new Vogue or Bazaar in the mail. It's like I MUST read it cover to cover before continuing with my life. It's an addiction. (On a sidenote-I cannot wait to see "Confessions of a Shopaholic" when it comes out next spring!!!) I love shopping and styling and am a firm believer that you don't need to be a millionaire to have a fashion sense. Sure we all wish we could grab the latest Fendi bag or new Louboutin's but the reality is we can't. And don't worry, this isn't a blah blah blah blog about how to save money and shop for bargain clothes...I am very guilty of not being able to put down expensive clothes, shoes or handbags.
My only fashion rules are this:
#1) Don't become a "Zoebot" (a Rachel Zoe follower...ughh we'll get into more detail). Be creative...it's your fashion sense! Sure we all idolize our favorite celeb's fashion sense but do we need to copy their every move? Definitely not! I've seen people in Target with better style than certain celebrities who shall remain nameless...for now....
#2) If the shirt (or whatever) is too small, too big, doesn't fit right, wrong color, etc...do not buy it! Thinking of getting it altered...? puhhhlease! I have a pile of clothes that have stayed on my floor (neatly folded of course) for 5 months waiting to be taken in, taken out, waiting for buttons to be sewed on, etc...it's a joke. None of us have time for that. So if it doesn't fit you like it should in the dressing room, it's a sign from above! & if it does fit, buy it...in every color!
#3) CHILL OUT. It's fashion. It's supposed to be fun. Stop matching your shoes, bag and belts together...this isn't 1998! Seriously!
